A New Perspective

Playing the role as a tutor to Daniel was a little bit difficult because he appeared to have everything under control and the way he sets up and writes his web-pages is completely foreign to me in that he self-taught himself how to write the web-pages.  He did need help on the content of his work because he didn't have a lot included in his pages thus far so I tried giving him examples of things that I had done to illustrate various concepts, but knowing he couldn't copy my work.  I could make suggestions given what he was interested in and ultimately it will be up to him to decide what he chooses to input in his web-pages

On the other hand, being the one getting the help was a new perspective as well because while I have a mac this is the first time I have ever used iweb and because of this I have had to do a lot of playing around with it and processes of elimination in figuring things out.  One major brick wall I was running into was getting PowerPoint to open on the webpage instead of downloading onto my desktop.  Daniel was a great help in the process of elimination with this because he ended up looking online information on PowerPoint in regard to macs, which lead us to save it on a flash drive and transfer the PowerPoint to a pc and save it there as a .html file and link the .html to my Health 478 page.

Needless to say, being on both sides was definitely a learning experience and I found that even when I am the tutor I may not know the program that the student is using, but I can help as best I can as well as give suggestions and knowing different people in the studio I can possibly refer them to another tutor later on if we cannot figure out the problem together.
